Consultation on the Draft Local Plan (Regulation 18)

The Telford & Wrekin Local Plan (TWLP) is the Development Plan for the Borough. It is central to delivering plan led growth and is the starting point for assessing planning applications. The TWLP 2011-2031 was adopted in January 2018 and the Council is required to review the plan 5 years after adoption under The Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012.

Following cabinet approval on the 19 October, the council are now consulting on the draft Local Plan and proposed site allocations.

What are we seeking comments on?

The draft plan consultation document introduces development priorities for Telford and Wrekin up to 2040. The review will take account of changes in national legislation as well as local circumstances. The review will consider proposals that will help build stronger, more resilient communities with access to local jobs, healthcare, education and good quality greenspace.

Following this consultation the comments will be considered prior to the production of a final draft of the plan which will be subject to public consultation in advance of submission to the Planning Inspectorate for examination.

How to make a comment

The consultation starts on the 25th October 2023 and closes at 5pm on the 12th January 2024. Your Town/Parish Council can comment on the draft Local Plan document and proposed sites allocations via the council’s Consultation Portal or via alternative methods including e-mail or in writing. The draft Local Plan and proposed sites allocations will also be available to view in libraries and community hubs across the borough.
