Models for Heroes Service

How Models for Heroes is Rebuilding Lives One Kit at a Time.

For many serving and former Armed Forces and Emergency Service personnel, the transition from service life to civilian life can be challenging. Isolation, anxiety and the invisible wounds of service often linger long after the uniform is folded away. But across the UK, something remarkable is happening – through glue, paint and tiny plastic parts, lives are being rebuilt. Models for Heroes is a UK based charity dedicated to supporting the Armed Forces and Emergency Service community through the therapeutic art of model- making. Founded on a simple idea – that creativity can heal – Models for Heroes provides free model kits, tools and guidance. The result is a safe and welcoming space where hands stay busy, minds find calm and friendships flourish.

Sessions run by Models for Heroes are about more than glue and paint. They are about camaraderie where individuals share stories, laugh over tricky decals and support each other through life’s challenges.  We are fortunate in Telford to have several sessions – on different days and times – including Leegomery, St. Georges, Stafford Park Telford Central Fire Station, Wellington, Sutton Hill and, also, online sessions.  To find your nearest group - please go to www.modelsforheroes.org.uk , email: gary.morris@modelsforheroes.org.uk or phone the Telford & Wrekin Council Armed Forces Outreach on 01952 384772.

The Groups are also grateful for donations of any unused kits, tools and funds.
